A blue and white toile throw pillow in OEKO-TEX® certified cotton blend, printed and sewn to order from original artwork — a stack of well-worn books with garden roses spilling over the top, drawn in the fine-line engraving style of antique French toile. Finished with contrast corded piping in slate blue around all four edges. Made for people whose houses are full of books and who would like the furniture to admit it.

The piping is the part most people notice second.

Most printed pillows are knife-edge — the fabric just meets at the seam and that's the end of it. This one is finished with a corded piped edge, the way an upholsterer would finish a cushion. It gives the pillow structure, holds a crisp square corner, and keeps it from reading as a print-on-demand square.

Insert included. This is a complete pillow, not a cover you have to fill yourself. It arrives with a plush down-alternative insert already in it. The cover unzips and comes off for washing whenever you need it.

The cover fabric is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified. Every component of it has been laboratory tested against limits for more than 1,000 substances known to be harmful to human health. It's the same standard applied to fabrics made for infants.

I'm Kelly. I design everything in this shop myself, from my studio in Chicago, usually with two rescue dogs asleep somewhere behind me.

This one came out of a habit I'm not going to apologize for: stacking books on every flat surface in the house. I wanted a toile that wasn't the usual pastoral scene with a shepherdess — something with the same fine engraved linework and the same restraint, but built around the thing actually sitting on my side table. So I drew the books first, let the roses grow over them, and kept the whole palette to one blue on an unbleached ground, the way the old copperplate prints were made.

ORDERING AND SHIPPING

Each pillow is made to order. Production takes 2–6 business days, and delivery takes another 3–7 by FedEx International Express, tracked the whole way — about 5–13 business days from your order to your door.

Shipping is free within the US, and all duties and import fees are already paid. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay. Nothing to settle with the courier on delivery.
